Los estadounidenses fueron convocados este 5 de noviembre a las urnas para elegir su futuro presidente entre la actual vicepresidenta, Kamala Harris, del Partido Demócrata, y Trump, en lo que se espera será una reñida contienda.
También se elige vicepresidente, toda la Cámara de Representantes y un tercio del Senado.
El candidato que obtenga al menos 270 (más de la mitad) de los votos del Colegio Electoral gana las elecciones. Puede haber empate en 269 electores; en ese caso quien designa al presidente es la Cámara de Representantes recién elegida.
El resultado de la votación en los estados oscilantes, donde ninguna de las partes tiene un predominio claro, será decisivo. Este año, dichos estados incluyen Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pensilvania y Carolina del Norte.
